On the morning of February 27, 2024, at the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project, the total output value of the project has currently reached 39,43% as planned. Of these, 2/6 bridges have been completed, the remaining 4 bridges are under implementation. The main bridge part (Package XL-02) has completed 4 pier bases, is under construction to burn K14/K32 towers and complete the body of 2 anchor piers. The main route has been deployed for 12.87 km/14.17 km, the remaining 1 km has not yet been handed over.
Progress on the bridge is very good, however, the road and soft ground treatment work is about 5-7 months slow, mainly due to land problems. Of these, 800m of the site adjacent to DT870 and the main bridge pier path have not yet been handed over, while this is an important section that determines the overall progress of the project, the construction site is interrupted and there is no road. approach.
Sharing at the meeting, Mr. Tran Van Thi - Director of My Thuan Project Management Board requested Tien Giang province to hand over the site early before March 30 as committed, then the project can be completed on schedule. Mr. Thi added that currently, the main bridge part of Rach Mieu 2 bridge is ahead of schedule, but the bridge leading to Rach Mieu bridge and the road leading to the bridge (with soft soil treatment) in Binh Duc and My Tho communes. The premises have not been handed over yet. The contractors determined that the project's critical road was a bridge leading to the Tien Giang bank, but when the unit gathered machinery and human resources for construction, they could not access the construction site.

On February 28, 2024, the Deputy Minister of Transport continued to have a working session with the Investor, CC1 and the consortium of contractors constructing the Eastern North - South Expressway project in the period 2021 - 2025, Hau Giang - Ca Mau section. .
According to the report, CC1 and the contractor consortium are currently organizing 116 construction projects, of which 54 are for road construction, 35 are for bridge construction and 27 are for public service roads. Mobilizing over 500 machines and equipment with nearly 1,000 engineers and workers.
According to the representative of the People's Committee of Vinh Thuan district, Kien Giang province, the district has handed over the site to the My Thuan Project Management Board reaching 96,17%. Currently, there are still 10 households that have not received money due to requests to increase compensation prices and resettlement support, but basically the district has a plan to completely resolve it as soon as possible. Therefore, progress on some bridges and service roads is still slow compared to plan. “To speed up the progress of site clearance and resettlement of people, localities need to have specific solutions, otherwise the project will slow down. The request must be basically completed by December 31, 2025, therefore, the project cannot be delayed and difficulties must be handled promptly.“, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Lam requested.
The Eastern North-South Expressway project, period 2021-2025, was approved by the National Assembly for investment policy in Resolution No. 44 with 12 component projects with a total length of about 729km, including the following sections: Ha Tinh - Quang Tri (267km), Quang Ngai - Nha Trang (353km) and Can Tho - Ca Mau (109km), passing through 12 provinces and cities. Total investment is over 146,000 billion VND in the form of public investment. The project will be basically completed in 2025 and put into operation from 2026.
In particular, the Can Tho - Ca Mau route is divided into 2 component projects, the Can Tho - Hau Giang, Hau Giang - Ca Mau sections are large-scale, modern, passing through many localities. This is a highway belonging to the Southern Expressway system and one of two vertical routes in the Mekong Delta region. At the same time, the route connects two horizontal highways, Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang and Ha Tien - Rach Gia - Bac Lieu.
